Harsana has been recognized from Pragati English School as a gifted student. The principle approached us this year to take her on as scholarship recipient. Harsana come from a very poor family with a monthly income of $100. We are hoping to find a family to welcome her into their family and support her with school fees.
Bhumika is member of a family of 4. Her father and mother are farmers and the family lives on $200 a month. Bhumika is a brilliant student who required our assistance to prevent her from being expelled for failure to pay school fees. We are looking for a family to welcome her into their family supporting her with school fees.
Shanta Karki, 13, Bishal Karki, 12, are a family of 7 living high up on a hill with very little income from the sale of milk. The family survives on subsistence farming.

Kedar Bhujel, 13 is from a family of 6 living in a 2 room shack in the village. His mother is deathly ill and we unsure of her survival. Their father works on the family farm providing food.
Sajana Katuwal, 14 is being raised by her aunt and uncle after the death of her mother from blood cancer when she was 5 years old. Her father chose to abandoned her, and run off and marry another women, having no contact with her since her mother’s death. Her aunt manages to look after her from a small food shack with an monthly income of $200 for a family of 5, with the uncle suffering from a brain tumor. The family of 5 all live in the small food shack in one room.
Bagbati Puri, 8 is a member of this family of 5, all supported by subsistence farming. The family lost their father 2 years ago to suicide, leaving the mother to care for her family on an monthly income of approx. $50.00, from selling milk and vegetables from her land.
Sabina Puri, Sharmila Puri, Sarita Puri and Rashmi Puri have been welcomed with loving arms into the families of Anita Wiklem, Hollis Liddell, Mona Loutfy, Azra Ali and Carmen Leo from Toronto, Canada with a commitment of annual academic scholarships through university.
Binita is a very bright girl from the remote village of Nawalpur. Binita lives with her mother who is ill with a heart condition, and a sister that is not expected to live much longer. With no father in the picture we are happy to report that her uncle has taken her in and she is living in Kathmandu going to a private English School paid for by her sponsor Mr. Andreas Muller. Binita has thrived in this situation and became top student of her class receiving a 50% scholarship this year.
Freedom on Ice Nepal, works directly with Pragati, the private English school in Melamchi. They have waived all of their admission fees for our scholarship recipients to freeup funds for more children to attend.
The cost of Helping
Each class year has a slightly different cost ranging from a monthly fee of $17CDN for class one to a monthly fee of $33CDN for class 9 ( 2017-2018) rates.
After class ten children must write their final exam, SLC(STUDENT LEAVING CERTIFICATE) to be eligible to continue their studies in 10+1 and 10+2 (grade 11 and grade 12). We are proud to annouce that with government changes all schools must provide further education allowing for more children to be able to afford to continue their studies, no longer having to go into the city for their 10+1 and 10+2.
When taking a child into your family our dream is for you to see them through to the end of their schooling. If this is too much of a committment we welcome any amount of donation to our general Academic Scholarship fund with Powerskating Academy continuing to provide for the children until a family can be found.
